Preparation
- In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, dry yeast, and a pinch of salt.
- Gradually add the warm water to the dry ingredients, stirring until a rough dough forms.
- Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead it for about 10 minutes, or until it is smooth and elastic.
- Cover the kneaded dough with a clean cloth and let it rise in a warm place for approximately 1.5 hours, or until it has doubled in size.
- Once risen, knead the dough again briefly, then divide it into three equal parts.
- Shape each piece into a loaf and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Cover the loaves with a cloth and allow them to rise again for 30-40 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 220°C (425°F).
- After the second rise, make several shallow cuts in the top of each loaf with a sharp knife for expansion.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack before slicing and serving.
Notes
Kneading for long enough is essential for good structure; it should feel smooth and elastic by the time you finish. Letting the loaves cool completely helps you achieve cleaner slices.
